We recommend that you follow these steps to get the most out of Walletguide.
Add assets
The most important thing is to add up all your assets and liabilities. This will give you an overview of your net worth. For many asset types, we allow you to import historical data so you can see recent changes in your net worth.
For all manual assets, be sure to set the initial balances.
Add/import transactions
Depending on your asset type, you will want to make sure that you add/import your transactions to Walletguide. This can be bank transactions, but also things like stock/ETF orders or total value updates if you are not interested in the details and just want to track the high level value.
Custom categories and merchants
By default, Walletguide is set up with our standard set of categories. You may want to create custom categories to best personalize the reports for you. You can also delete any categories you don't need to keep things clean.
If you want to use our advanced cost tracking features by categorizing your bank transactions, you will also want to create merchant profiles. We do this automatically for you when we import transactions for you, but you have full control over this and can also manually add, edit, and delete merchants.
To adjust these settings, simply go to the Settings menu in the main navigation bar.
Invite others
Walletguide allows you to collaborate with other users in real time. So go ahead and invite anyone you want to have access to your financial information. This could be your partner, children, family or a financial advisor.
